What Print Studio does
Print Studio helps Shopify merchants offer artwork uploads, product previews, and saved production designs. We process shopper information on the merchant’s behalf to provide that service. Merchants remain responsible for their storefront privacy notices and handling customer requests.
Information we process
- Merchant shop domain, Shopify authentication sessions and access tokens, granted scopes, and staff account details provided by Shopify during authentication.
- Selected product and variant IDs, titles, image URLs, decoration methods, print zones, and merchant artwork libraries.
- Shopper artwork files, filenames, dimensions, chosen ink color, placement, saved design references, and associated product and variant information. Artwork may itself contain personal information.
- The Shopify customer ID when supplied for a signed-in shopper. Guest designs have no account identifier. Temporary designer tokens support the upload and preview session.
- Privacy-request identifiers, customer IDs and order IDs supplied in Shopify compliance requests, request status, and information you choose to send to support.
- Order identifiers, dates, payment and refund status, customized item amounts, and design references received from Shopify to report sales through the app. We do not store order addresses or payment card data.
- App usage billing records: store identity, event dates, delivery status, and a hashed order-item reference to prevent duplicate charges. Usage events sent to Shopify contain the store identity, date, a random event ID, and item count, without shopper details or artwork.
- When storefront analytics processing is allowed, a random page-visit reference and designer interaction events, including cart and upload errors. These events contain no names, email addresses, artwork, or IP addresses and are used to report the customization funnel.
- If the merchant enables quote requests, the name, email address, quantity, requested deadline, notes, and design the shopper submits. These details let the merchant respond to that inquiry; submitting a quote request does not subscribe the shopper to marketing.
How we use and share information
We use this information to authenticate merchants, render previews, save designs, provide production downloads, manage subscriptions, prevent abuse, report app usage and estimated merchant value, handle quote inquiries, answer support requests, and fulfill privacy requests. Shopify handles checkout, payment details, and app subscription charges. We do not collect payment card details.
Shopify supplies the commerce and authentication platform. Amazon Web Services provides application infrastructure and private artwork storage in the United States. Our authorized service providers may process data to operate and support the service. We do not sell shopper artwork or customer data, use it for advertising, or use uploaded artwork to train AI models. We may disclose information when legally required.
Retention and deletion
Temporary designer sessions expire after two hours. Unreferenced shopper uploads become eligible for cleanup after 30 days. Saved designs and merchant library artwork remain until deleted by the merchant, removed to fulfill a privacy request, or removed following Shopify’s shop-redaction request after uninstall. Uninstall disables customization and removes the app’s Shopify sessions; Shopify sends the separate shop-redaction request later. A reinstall before that request arrives preserves the active installation’s data. Funnel events become eligible for deletion after 210 days. Quotes and matched order records remain until deleted or redacted with the associated customer, design, or shop. After order erasure, we retain only the shop and order identifier with empty placeholder fields to prevent delayed events from restoring data. Usage billing records and their duplicate-prevention references remain until shop redaction; they do not retain customer or artwork links.
Deleting app records does not remove Shopify orders or copies already downloaded by a merchant. Those copies are governed by the merchant’s policies. Deletion from active app storage does not automatically remove copies from operational backups. Contact support@env8.com for backup retention and deletion details.
Your requests
Shoppers should contact the store where they placed an order. Include the relevant order or design reference so the merchant can locate guest designs. Merchants can initiate privacy requests through Shopify and use Saved designs in Print Studio to download or delete individual designs. We support access and deletion requests and respond to verified requests as required by applicable law. You can also contact support@env8.com; we may need to verify your identity or coordinate with the merchant.
Security and international processing
Access to the embedded app is authenticated through Shopify. Webhook signatures are verified, stored artwork is private and encrypted at rest, and file delivery requires authorization or a signed link. Treat production links as confidential. Information may be processed in the United States, which may have different data-protection laws from your location.
